The Tradewind Report July 2008
I've managed to teach my son to knit, just days before his 6th birthday. We had quite a needle arts-filled day as he also had a dabble with a crochet hook, and then discovered my embroidery floss. No doubt fascinated by all the colours, he was really eager to embroider something. So I told him to find a white article of clothing. At first he brought me one of his little socks. I suggested something bigger, perhaps a t-shirt. He then came back with a pair of his older brother's pants. Well, it fit in the hoop so why not? We've now completed embroidering his name on the pants with lots of encouragement and praise along the way. The problem is . . . he now wants to bring the pants to school for show-and-tell. I suppose, why not?
Show and Tell
Thank you to Heather for this little cutie-pie!

And thank you to Patricia for sharing this lovely blanket which she knitted for her MIL's 99th birthday. Fantastic!

I've been slow to jump onto the amigurumi wagon. I've always appreciated the creativity and craftmanship that goes into all those cute little figures. But I've always found it a bit TOO cute for me . . . until now. On a recent Kniting Thursday at our local Borders, while waiting for my knitting buddies, I picked up this little gem, Creepy Cute. I instantly fell in love with it and immediately started working on the Ninja. This book was confirmed a big hit when BOTH my boys looked through all the projects and asked for every single one. You can find out more about the author, Christin Haden, on her website, www.needlenoodles.com.
